Lalita

Lalita (f.) From Sanskrit lalita playful, amorous, charming (from IaI to play), widely attested in epic and classical texts. It is the name of a gopi, or cowherdess, who is one of the amorous playmates of the adolescent Krishna. She is sometimes identified with his favourite companion, normally called Radha. It is also a name of Durga, Shiva’s wife, especially in Tantric texts. Variant: Lalit.
